Overview of role
We are seeking a highly skilled Requirements Engineer & Compliance Analyst to support the design and compliance of payroll software for the German market. The ideal candidate will be a native-level German speaker with deep expertise in requirements engineering and German payroll compliance, including ITSG audits and regulatory data transmission standards You will bridge the gap between compliance/legal obligations and product development, ensuring our systems meet all German statutory and technical requirements.
Core tasks
Requirements Engineering
- Elicit, document, and manage functional and non-functional requirements for German payroll systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to translate compliance needs into clear technical specifications.
- Own feature scope, create user stories, and define acceptance criteria.
Compliance & ITSG
- Conduct legal and technical research on German payroll regulations and standards (ITSG, DEÜV, euBP).
- Prepare documentation, test scenarios, and evidence for ITSG audits.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise on product impacts.
- Contribute to QA processes by developing test cases and performing quality analysis.
- Track progress and ensure alignment with project milestones.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders on German payroll compliance.
- Provide knowledge transfer, training, and mentoring to team members.
- Ability to adapt - we are a global team and expect some flexibility in working hours to accommodate the global nature of our work
Must have requirements
- Native-level or C2 German proficiency and strong English communication skills.
- Proven experience working with remote engineering teams and developing high quality software with them.
- Hands-on experience with ITSG audits and German payroll compliance frameworks.
- Prior roles as a compliance analyst, product compliance expert, or payroll SME in German payroll software.
- Familiarity with tools such as Github, Confluence, JIRA, and agile project management methods
Nice to have requirements
- Experience working in SaaS payroll or HR tech companies (e.g. Personio, Paychex, Deel).
- Background in payroll operations before moving into requirements or compliance roles.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex regulatory information.

- Step - Single combined interview (technical + cultural) with the two co-founders, Siddharth Ram and Kumar Ramanathan, plus one member of the technical team (45–60 minutes).
